Livable Cities Studio is thrilled to announce the promotion of Chelsea Gieryic, AICP, to Associate. With five years of dedicated experience and a deep commitment to community-focused design, Chelsea has proven herself as a key player in our team, bringing thoughtful and impactful solutions to projects that matter most to our communities.
Holding a dual master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado Denver, Chelsea combines a rigorous academic background with a genuine desire to enhance environmental justice through landscape planning. Her expertise and professional insights have helped shape projects like Littleton Parks, Open Space, and Trails Vision Plan, the Fort Collins Bike Park Feasibility Study, the La Alma-Lincoln Park Design, the Denver Shared Streets Concept Design, the Denver Moves: Cherry Creek Plan, and the Denver Parks and Recreation Legacy Fund 2025-2029 Plan. These efforts are a direct reflection of her passion for thoughtful, resilient designs that prioritize people and the environment.
In addition to her contributions at Livable Cities Studio, Chelsea’s dedication to the field is evident through her involvement with the professional community. She has been recognized for her work on the La Alma-Lincoln Park Vision Plan, which earned the Advancing Diversity and Social Change award from the American Planning Association Colorado Chapter. Additionally, Chelsea worked on the Outdoor Adventure & Alternative Sports Strategic Plan, which received the APA Colorado Award. Her commitment to community-driven planning has also earned her the title of ASLA Colorado Volunteer of the Year for both 2023 and 2024, as well as a leadership role as the 2025 ASLA Colorado President-Elect. Furthermore, Chelsea serves as Deputy Director of Marketing & Communications for WxLA, reflecting her strong commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices in the design profession.
Chelsea’s drive to elevate communities and bring meaningful changes to the built environment is something that continuously inspires those around her. In her words, “As an urban planner and landscape designer, I’m most inspired by elevating community voices. Truly listening to people and crafting designs that reflect their wants and needs is deeply fulfilling. My passion lies in creating spaces that honor local aspirations and leave a meaningful, lasting impact on their communities.”
When asked about her most memorable professional achievement, Chelsea shared, “Completing the La Alma-Lincoln Park Vision Plan has been my most memorable professional achievement thus far. Collaborating with Denver Parks and Recreation, we engaged the public through innovative methods to create a truly community-supported vision for this unique park. Our team wove in the site’s cultural and historic context, honoring the park’s rich Chicano/a history.”
Chelsea’s promotion is a well-deserved recognition of her contributions to the studio and the field of landscape architecture and urban planning. Her leadership, collaborative spirit, and passion for creating spaces that honor and serve communities will continue to be a driving force in our studio’s growth and success.
We are incredibly excited to see what Chelsea will accomplish next and look forward to the many great things she will continue to do for our team, our clients, and the communities we serve.
