Denver Performing Arts Complex

Denver, Colorado

The Denver Performing Arts Complex is the nation’s largest non-profit theater company. Located in the heart of Downtown Denver, the theater is the regions primary destination for theater, stage and symphony. To improve user and patron experience, the Art Complex undertook a study on making mobility improvements for people traveling to, from, and around the facility by all modes of transportation.

The study investigates surrounding travel and user patterns to identify near-term operational recommendations and “Future State” project recommendations. A conceptual framework was developed to emphasize user experiences through public realm improvements and new and creative wayfinding techniques. The public realm concept utilizes colorful markings and graphics to make the venue more comfortable and welcoming to visitors while strengthening the Complex’s connections to the larger public realm of Downtown.
