Project Downtown reimagines the streets and public spaces of historic Downtown Littleton through a bold, multi-disciplinary design effort that prioritizes innovation, green infrastructure, and a people-first approach to mobility. At the heart of the vision is a curbless, shared Main Street that continues to move vehicles while elevating the experience for pedestrians and cyclists, creating a lively, accessible, and resilient downtown core. This forward-thinking plan blends mobility, placemaking, and sustainability to strengthen the city’s unique character and historic charm while redefining how streets function as both connectors and destinations.
Developed in close collaboration with city staff, engineers, planners, and community partners, the project reflects a balance of technical excellence and community insight. Engagement was deeply integrated into the design process through virtual and in-person meetings, surveys, and pop-up events, ensuring that local voices directly shaped key interventions. Main Street and Alamo Street are reimagined as pedestrian-centered corridors with generous public spaces, Prince Street as a safe north-south bike route, and Nevada Street as a fully shared street that seamlessly accommodates pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. Little’s Creek is transformed from a drainage corridor into an active greenway, knitting together downtown with improved mobility, ecology, and public space.
In addition to this bold re-envisioning of Downtown, the team created a Green Infrastructure Toolkit—a strategic resource to guide future investments across the city. Together, these elements provide a clear framework for a vibrant, connected public realm that celebrates cultural heritage, supports active lifestyles, and integrates ecological systems to serve Littleton for generations to come.
